Primary Function:

The Safety & Training Coordinator is responsible for overseeing companywide safety, safety committees, training programs, and equipment for all locations. Develops and delivers training to personnel using a variety of tools and methods.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.
• Oversees safety equipment to meet OSHA and ANSI compliance standards
• Delivers safety training in a variety of settings including classroom and on-the-spot training; includes programs such as forklift and crane certifications, New Hire Safety Orientation, CPR and First Aid Training, Hazard Communication, Lock-Out/Tag-Out, etc. Determines training audience and relevance as well as duration of class.
• Develops, updates and implements training programs by working with managers to determine training needs; may research alternative training options and negotiate with vendors to purchase training programs.
• Conducts periodic safety audits in the plant to identify potential safety issues which result in updated safety training and modification safeguarding.
• Tracks and maintains all training files and databases. Responsible for tracking safety certifications and renewals such as hearing testing and forklift certifications; manages process for successful completion of testing and certification, including development of rosters and schedules.
• Oversees the Safety Committee and the site auditing activities.
• Completes all incident investigations and files reports with the Human Resources Department for corrective action.
• Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
• Facilitates scheduled inspections of facility identifying potential hazards and compliance concerns and tracks the corrective actions identified.

Requirements:
Associate’s degree or equivalent experience and 1 – 3 years of training and safety experience preferably in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of city, state and federal OSHA regulations.
Valid class D, Driver’s License. Traveling to Manitowoc, WI (required).
Excellent communication ability is required, in writing and presentation. PC skills to include MS Office software, such as Excel, Word, Power Point.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, complex situations and maintain confidentiality.
Punctuality and ability to meet deadlines and schedules.
